Born in Combat
 
Our unique Confined Space Rescue System was conceived during the height of the Vietnam war. Skippyboard’s founder, Bob McFadries was in action as a USAF Special Forces para-rescue team member. His unit was responsible for airlifting downed US pilots and their crew to safety. More often than not time was precious and simply extracting the wounded pilot was the first priority.
 
During these time sensitive  missions Bob formulated ideas on how to more quickly immobilize and lift a wounded pilot or crew member from confined air space and a thick jungle canopy. It would not be before he returned home and joined one of the nation’s oldest Fire Department Rescue squad that his experience and  ideas would result in what professionals call the finest confined space system available..
 
Field Tested
 
Skippyboard’s Confined Space Rescue System was field tested and perfected while in regular service with the Cambridge Massachusetts Fire Department. This department’s single truck rescue unit has responded to over 7600 incidents in one year alone!  Now, nearly 25 years later the Skippyboard CSR is serving in rescue squads, armed forces, training centers and industrial plants worldwide.
